Are we willing to adapt?

After my first week of study at City University’s postgraduate journalism course, there was one thing continuously drummed into my brain – if I don’t adapt to the ‘digital revolution’ I will never be taken seriously as a journalist.

This, of course, is true.  Infact by the end of my time here as a journalism student, I am expected to be ‘media literate’. This means it’s one thing being able to update my status on Facebook, watch a video on YouTube or search for something on Google but I need to be able to create my own content too.

This is why all journalists are being encouraged to start their own blogs, to be part of the digital revolution, and to get noticed. Roy Greenslade, my lecturer from Journalism and Society, today stressed the readership figures of the nationals, and it is only becoming more apparent that journalism is moving online. He has inspired me to get involved with this revolution and start a blog.
